There's a new Okanagan Pickleball League made up of teams representing Kelowna, Shuswap Lake Estates, Armstrong, Lake Country, Salmon Arm and Vernon Pickleball Clubs.

Designed to bring our communities together through a friendly and competitive format, this initiative aims to strengthen connections between clubs while providing players with meaningful and enjoyable match play opportunities.

Interclub play offers a number of important benefits. It allows players to compete against a wider variety of opponents, helping to develop skills and adaptability. It fosters camaraderie and collaboration between neighboring clubs, building a stronger regional pickleball community. Just as importantly, it creates a fun and motivating environment where players can challenge themselves while enjoying the social side of the sport.

The series will focus on players rated 3.5 and above, ensuring a balanced level of play that remains competitive while still welcoming and inclusive. Matches will be organized in a home-and-home format, giving each club the opportunity to host and travel, and allowing players to experience different venues across the region. 

Kelowna home games will be hosted at the Vernon Pickleball Complex. 

Interested? Players must:

1. have a rating of 3.5 or higher
2. be available for most of the game dates highlighted below
3. be willing to travel to the other participating clubs
4. be willing to travel to the Vernon courts for the Kelowna home games
5. want to have competitive fun!

Interclub Play Guidelines

The Team Captain and Co-Captain will select a team consisting of:

• 8 players at the 3.5 level

• 8 players at the 4.0 level

Match Structure (MLP Style)

Each team vs team matchup consists of 4 games:

1. Women’s Doubles or player A and player B

2. Men’s Doubles or player C and player D

3. Mixed Doubles #1 or player A and player C

4. Mixed Doubles #2 or player B and player D

• All games are played to 11 points win by 1

Scheduling

• Sunday is the designated interclub competition day to maintain league consistency

• Match times will be mutually agreed upon by the two competing clubs

Spirit of Play

• Interclub matches are intended to be:

  • Friendly and competitive

  • Inclusive and social

  • Results will NOT be inputted to DUPR or recorded

• Emphasize sportsmanship, club camaraderie, and enjoyment of the game
